Zeeve and shutter

Zeeve, the leading Rollups-as-a-service (RaaS) platform, will leverage Shutter, a privacy and security protocol for helping prevent the front-running and MEV extraction in layer2 rollups and appchains.

MEV is a tactical play in blockchain where users strategically place their transactions within a block to gain an edge. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does bring up some serious questions about fairness and security in the public network.  MEV can push smaller players to the sidelines, centralize the network, and introduce additional censorship vectors. Shutter implements the Distributed key generation (DKG) scheme directly into the L2 rollup sequencer mechanisms to protect applications deployed on the rollup. This also increases censorship resistance, provides base layer neutrality, and in some cases, improves the latency for rollup chains.

With this support, rollups launching with Zeeve RaaS can leverage the benefits of our no-code deployment and management with High-uptime sequencing, full-scale provisioning (block explorers, faucets, data indexers, cross-chain bridges, and more) and also optionally integrate an encrypted mempool with threshold encryption powered by Shutter in order to address the issue of bad MEV and censorship. Zeeve’s RaaS is already compatible with a wide range of Ethereum rollup frameworks, such as Polygon CDK, zkStack, Arbitrum Orbit, and OP Stack, all of which can seamlessly integrate with Shutter.

“MEV could be a bigger challenge in layer2 rollups than in layer1, largely due to the sophistication in the sequencer setup. “Many rollups today are vulnerable to censorship and are at a disadvantage in handling malicious MEV, impacting both users and the dApp in the broader sense. Shutter solves this with a keyper-generated key mechanism that allows transaction data decryption only post-sequencing, ensuring a more equitable and secure transaction environment with reduced front-running risks. Teams using Zeeve to launch their Optimistic or ZK Layer2s can get this integration as an easily pluggable component. We are certain, be it DeFi, gaming, Trading, or any other application you are building, the combo of Zeeve RaaS and Shutter will give you an immense competitive advantage.”

“Our collaboration with Zeeve eases protocol differentiation for L2 teams. This partnership streamlines the integration of key features like encrypted mempools, freeing up these teams to deepen community ties and broaden partnerships. Incorporating Shutter’s threshold encryption into Zeeve’s Rollup as a Service not only provides robust rollup chain management but also fortifies the trading experience against front-running, fostering a more secure and fair ecosystem. It’s a step towards realizing the ‘many rollup’ theory, where true protocol differentiation leads to a more diverse and robust ecosystem.”

This benefits the vast Zeeve community of over 28,000 users and 40+ institutions already on the platform, along with all the users of Shutter’s protocol looking to leverage a Rollups-as-a-service platform to deploy and manage their rollups efficiently.

Zeeve integration partners augment the power of your rollups, and with every new partner we add, we give more options for builders to make their rollup stack even more modular. We boast a diverse partner ecosystem consisting of leading Interoperability protocols, decentralized oracles, account abstraction SDKs, indexers, and various other tools as pluggable components.
